Work included preventatively replacing the rod bearings, connecting rod bolts, distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, and thermostat, along with gaskets for the left and right timing covers, oil pan, and more. Included in the sale are the Bosch ECU, engine wiring harness, mass airflow sensor, airbox, and other items listed below.
The invoice in the gallery indicates that following a compression test, the engine was disassembled and the rod bearing and connecting rod bolts were replaced, along with gaskets for the left and right timing covers, oil pan, exhaust manifold, thermostat housing, coolant outlet, and cylinder head oil return.
The starter, alternator, distributor cap, rotor, and spark plugs were also replaced, along with the fuel pressure regulator, thermostat, and accessory drive belts. The fuel injectors were rebuilt and flow-tested by Marren Fuel Injection, with before and after results shown below. The engine block, cylinder head, and oil pan were painted during the refurbishment. The valve cover and intake plenum were stripped and refinished, and the M emblem was also replaced.
The Getrag five-speed manual gearbox was pulled from the same M5 and retains its VIN tag and stampings. The shifter assembly was cleaned and prepped during the refurbishment, and the flywheel was also resurfaced. Included in the sale are the Bosch Motronic ECU shown above along with a labeled engine wiring harness, an air intake elbow, intake airbox, mass air flow sensor, and more shown in the gallery.

The E34 generation of the M5 was produced from September to August Total production of the E34 M5 was 12, units. Cosmetic changes to the exterior from the standard E34 included unique front and rear bumpers and side rocker panels, contributing to a drag coefficient of 0.
